Condition X: Group Show Alert

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Sup WWW and why hello blogosphere: I am in another group show. It’s called Condition X and the content of the show will probably live up to its ominous sounding title. Condition X is, according to the press release, “an exhibition that focuses on human frailty as expressed through love, death, sex, vulnerability, and connection.” This annual summer show features work made by alumni of the School of Visual Arts Summer Residency Program, which I attended last summer, and I am thrilled to have been invited back to participate. The show opens on Saturday August 6th with a reception from 5 PM to 8 PM and takes place at The SVA Westside Gallery, located at 133/141 West 21st between 6th and 7th Avenues in New Yawk. It runs until August 20th. If you happen not to be in the Hamptons, come on by the opening, have a beer or wine or whateva, see some art, and say hello.

The Grid: SVA Show

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Here you have it: the culmination of nine weeks of straight work summed up in one photograph. If you want to see each portrait, and I suggest you do as the grid does not do them justice individually, check my website. Stay tuned as a longer post about my experience during the SVA summer residency is in the works.

SVA Show Tonight

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Check it. I have an opening tonight (apologies to the blogosphere for the late notice.) If you didn’t know about it, now you do. I will be showing new work, which will be featured on my website and blog at a later date. If, however, you are in NYC and want to see the work on a white wall, me in my favorite white kicks, make an appearance, make a cameo, or stay for the evening.

I am attending the summer residency in photography at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) and I have been asked to blog about my experience for SVA. I feel like a real blogger, not a just man with a blog but a veritable rubber-stamped blogger. If you want to read why I am not getting much sleep these days, why I generally eat dinner at 11 pm (two beers and a small portion of Vegetable Mei Fun from Hood Hing, my local bullet-proofed Chinese restaurant), and why I am usually up before sunrise, then check out my first post for the school entitled IN THE PRESENT TENSE.
